A-4E Skyhawk Aggressor |
Hasegawa's 1/48 scale A-4E/F Skyhawk is available online from
Squadron.com
This is Hasegawa's 1/48 scale A-4E/F Skyhawk built
straight from the box with the exception of the seat which is from
Verlinden.
The model was built to test the new decals from
Richard Chafer at Gekko Graphics, due for release very soon. These
decals were superb and went on flawlessly. The decal sheet includes
decals for this aircraft (150023) at three points in her career, all in
widely differing paint schemes, and I have plans to do all three plus
her final incarnation as the "Mig-17" from Two-Bobs!
I can add nothing about the building of this model
to what has already been said by David Aungst in his numerous articles
apart from saying that I reckon I love this model as much as he does!
This is my fifth to date and I just wish they'd hurry up with the TA-4
and A-4M versions.
The model is finished with Humbrol enamels freehand
airbrushed through my Badger 200 single action. Final finish is Testors
Dull Cote. The wash is a thinned variant of the acrylic "sludge" wash
and other weathering is some light drybrushing and dabs of oil paint
pulled in the direction of the airflow for the streaking.
I have no idea how many hours I spent on the model
but it wasn't many - the model was built over a six day period in March
2003.
