Oh no, not another 109!
Yes, this is Hasegawa's Me-109G-6 done up as one of Erich Hartmann's
mounts with Aeromaster decals.
The cockpit was detailed the olde fashioned way with bits of
plastic and wire, the only concession to the aftermarket industry being
the Waldron photoetched seat harness buckles.
The drop tank was also plumbed, and the rack replaced with the less
inaccurate one from the Tamiya Bf-109E kit.
The little oil cooler scoops on the nose were cut off, hollowed out and
repositioned correctly. I also drilled the exhaust stacks out, which was
a waste of time considering that all the effort was next to invisible.
The model was painted with Polly Scale RLM76, with the RLM74 and 75
upper colours mixed from Tamiya paints. Because they were so dead easy,
I elected to mask and paint the national markings as well as tulip nose
motif.
