Messerschmitt Bf 109G-4/Trop
Stormy Skies for JG 53

Messerschmitt Bf 109G-4/Trop

Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109G-4/Trop is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Here is Hasegawa/Revell's 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109G-4/Trop.

This G-4/trop is built basically straight from the box. The only added or modified details are the dropped elevators and a few small pieces from the Eduard Bf 109G-6 detail set.

The basic painting was done with Aeromaster Warbird colors RLM 78 and 79. The decals are from the kit, and were no real problem.

The aircraft I chose to represent is 'Black1' piloted by Oblt. Franz Scheiss, the Staffelkapitan of 8./JG 53 in Sicily in early 1943. In Prien & Rodeike's Schiffer book on the Bf 109F,G & K series, there are photos of the young Leutnant. in the cockpit of a G-2; and of "Black 1' itself.

There is a werknummer on the tail, but it's not readable. 60 years ago, you say!
