Revell of
Germany's 1/72 scale Bv 222 V2 may be ordered online from
Squadron.com
Here are a few photos of my Revell von Deutschland BV 222 V2
model in 1/72 scale. This is the new mold kit and it is quite a beauty.
The kit has a rather well detailed cockpit as well as a roof and floor for
the main cabin. Since this is the Versuchs version 2, it has the 6
BMW radial engines. Later version would have in-line engines.
This model assembles very quickly with the only problem area being the
engine exhausts. There is a large gap between the front and rear portions
of the nacelle that is difficult to fill. I sanded off the offending
exhausts and filled the gap. I made new exhausts from wire solder.
The model was painted with Model Master Acryl RLM 65/72/73.
Kit decals were added directly to the flat finish with copious amounts
of Solvaset under and above the decal. These were then sealed in with some
hand brushed Tamiya flat mixed with Future.
I haven't added the guns in the windows, I knew that I would be
constantly breaking these off everytime I picked up the model.
The stand seen in the pictures is a modified ship stand from a 1/700
scale Trumpeter Iowa class Battleship kit.
If you are into very large German seaplanes, then by all means, this kit
is for you!
Aloha
Val
