F4F-4 Wildcat

F4F-4 Wildcat

Tamiya's 1/48 scale F4F-4 Wildcat is available online from Squadron.com

Description

After receiving a copy of the "Applied Modeling Encyclopaedia", reviewed earlier on HyperScale, I was inspired to build a US Navy aircraft after the fashion of an F6F Hellcat in the book.

For a little variety I applied the techniques to a Tamiya 1/48 scale Wildcat, following the steps in the book. The result was a weather beaten aircraft that appears to have seen a lot of action!

As expected, this Tamiya kit went together without any hassles.

The model was sprayed with Tamiya and Gunze acrylics using the Testor Aztek A470 airbrush.

Thanks to Wings 'n' Things at Gladesville for supplying the kit.
