Tamiya's
1/48 scale F4F-4 Wildcat is available online from Squadron.com
Here are some pictures of my 1/48 Tamiya F4F
Wildcat built "out of the box". The markings are for VGF-29 aboard the
USS Santee during Operation Torch.
Overall, this kit fits together very well. Obviously the sliding canopy
does not fit the fuselage in the open position, and I would have used a
vacform replacement if not for "out of the box" contest rules. I did
sand off the large raised rivets, and cut notches in the cockpit floor
to test the OOTB rules, however.
Paint is Testor's enamel. Flat coat is Future and Tamiya X-21flat base.
Decals are a mix of Ministry of Small Aircraft Production and Aeromaster.
I tried to match the paint fading to wartime photos, hence the
mismatched fabric covered control surfaces, and random "oxidation" of
the paint.
