Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9 is available online from Squadron.com

Introduction

Chris Wauchop built Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 almost straight from the box.

He added harnesses, scribed additional panel lines to represent the early-style top gun cowl and reproduced lines of rivets in the fuselage side with a pin.

The model represents the aircraft of Oblt. Hans Dortenmann, Staffelkapitan of 14./JG 26. There are two excellent close-up photos of the mid fuselage of this aircraft in Axel Urbanke's book, GREEN HEARTS First in Combat with the Dora 9. Chris based his paint job on the detailed sample shown in these photos.

Decals are from Eagle Cals Sheet #1, available from Eagle Editions website. They behaved perfectly in application.
