Here is my most recent model - Tamiya's 1/32 scale F-15E Strike
Eagle. I particularly like 1/32 scale. This model was built straight
from the box, no modification.
For
an overall colour, I used Gunship Gray of Testor because Tamiya do
not have this colour for Enamel Paints, only for Spray Paint which
is inconvenient to me and really difficult to find here in Vietnam.
I did not apply heavy weathering to this bird as USAF aircrafts are
not as dirty and patchy as US Navy aircrafts although I prefer
dirty-looking aircrafts. Just a light weathering with pastel chalk,
oil washing and drybrushing to make it looks like "used".
Designations on the pilots' sleeves are painted by brush.
The landing gear is made from metal. These parts are outstanding
compared to the same type of F-15E from Revell. I coated these gears
by Metal Primer of Tamiya then painted with Insignia White of Testor.
After finishing all steps, I coated the model by Matt Cote of
Humbrol then the last layer is Gloss Finish of Testor (just a thin
spray to make the bird a bit gloss as an actual aircratfs). The last
to do is take out all masking tape cover canopy, clear parts and
Silver painted parts.
