Here is Hasegawa's 1/48 scale F-16DJ Block 52 kit completed with a
Black Box cockpit, a mix of kit and TwoBobs decals, and loads of
scratchbuilt goodies.
Wanting to add something a bit eye catching, I remembered a Verlinden
F-16 model with the pilots helmet and flight map draped on the fuel
tank.
The Sidewinder, HARM and AOA sensor covers where built from plastic
card whilst the RBF tags where fashioned from metal foil.
The decals are primarily from the kit with the national insignia and
stencils taken from a TwoBobs sheet.
I have subseqently found that this particular aircraft is a Block 50
(rather than a 52) and as such should have the small intake and PW
nozzle. I can squarely blaim Hasegawa for this error as I followed their
instructions ! Live and learn.
This model will find its way to a new home shortly as it was built on
commission.
Editor's Note: This model was took Gold at the NSW Scale Model Expo in May 2005
at Koonawarra south of Wollongong. You can see more of Gary's model on
his website, the Scale Spot
