This is the 1/48 scale F-4E Phantom from Hasegawa with Verlindenīs
detail set and some scratch built additions.
My model represents an IDF Phantom from 1973 Yom Kippur war. During
this war IDF Phantoms faced one new and formidable adversary - SAM
sites. Since IDF Phantoms didnīt have capacity for using anti-radiation
missiles nor smart bombs at this time, they had to rely on iron "dumb
bombs" and ECM to neutralize anti-aircraft defenses.
A
combination of 2 M-117 , 2 M-117 with fuse extended, 2 SUU 30 cluster
bombs, 2 sparrow, 2 AIM 9-D sidewinder and ALQ 119 from Hasegawa
completed the load of my Phantom. Asymmetric weapons configurations were
often used during war and mixed armament provide Phantoms with "air
strike" and "dogfight" capacity.
The model was painted with Humbrol and Model Master enamels, decals
were from Hi Decal Line (48-007 set).
Hope you like it.
