Description

Here is Tamiya's 1/48 scale F4U-1 Birdcage Corsair, built straight from the box.

Except for the insignia on the wings, I had to paint it by airbrush as the decals were not as thin as I expected. I used Tamiya Enamel paint for this bird, Matt Cote of Humbrol and last layer is Gloss finish of Model Master.

I applied weathering by drybrushing, oil washing and pastel on this model. To make it looks patchy and rub-off paint, I painted overall with Chrome Silver and left it dry for 24 hours. Then painted other colours as instructed. After finishing weathering, I scratched some spots on the model with an earpick. Paints are not mixed with Chrome Silver so it can be easily rub-off to make this application more real.
