F6F-3 Hellcat

This is the old 1/48 scale Otaki/AARI (and now Airfix) F6F-3 Hellcat,

I added a Falcon canopy, Hasegawa decals and slightly modified (to have a realistic grip on the stick) F4U-4 pilot figure.

The drop tank straps and sway braces were replaced with more "in scale" items, but the kit was mostly built straight from the box apart from that.

The stand is my own manufacture.

I've seen a number of methods to represent spinning propellors, but my preference is still just to eliminate the blades and let the viewer's imagination fill in the blanks.

My Hellcat is painted in gloss Testor enamels with a Paasche H airbrush.
