This is the Collect-Aire 1/48 scale FJ-3.
It's not bad for a resin kit, except for the fact that (in this
modeler's opinion) it comes with a useless canopy, consisting of a
chunky white metal frame and a vacuform piece one must trim to perfectly
fit the metal. If the modeler can pull off the perfect trim job, he or
she must then figure out how to glue the two bits together so no glue
shows. Maybe it's possible to do, but I admit, I'm not that good. I used
what came with the kit as a basis for my own vacuform master.
Paints used were common gloss touch-up enamels found in most hardware
stores. Gloss white for the white and my own mix of white, yellow and
black for the Light Gull Gray. VF-91 markings were supplied by custom
decal expert Walt Holmes. No pre-shading, no post-shading and no intake
cover.
