Tamiya's
1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 is available online from
Squadron.com
Here is the Tamiya Focke Wulf Fw190D-9 converted to the Fw190D-11 using
Wurger Mechanics conversion kit.
This kit contains spinner, prop blades, wheels,
cowling, air intake, lower wing 30 mm cannon ejection chutes, and upper
wing 30 mm cannon breach covers. The resin parts are cast very well but
require some careful fitting to get them just right.
I painted and marked mine using Eagle Cal decals.
The instructions state that the aircraft could have had the number 81 or
61 on the fuselage, although the smaller number 61 was found on the
wings, so I chose to stick with the assumption that they would have been
the same.
The kit was built up according to the instructions and went together
like most Tamiya kits without any problems. I left the wheel wells as
they come in the kit, although an open engine plug would have done the
kit a more accurate build.
I
chose Gunze RLM acrylics RLM 82 and 75 over RLM 76. I followed the Eagle
Cal sheet for the camouflage application.
The kit was sprayed using Pascoes Long Life and
decaled the following day. Once the decals were applied the aircraft was
given a few coats of Pascoes Long Life and Tamiya Flat Base mixed at a
7: 1 ratio. This provides a nice matte coat.
I like how the kit looks with the markings as well
as the smooth cowling and 30 mm cannons added to the wings.
