Description

I recently did an oil painting in honor of my fathers passing.

He was on a sea plane tender and reconnaissance ship, the AV-4 USS CURTISS. He brought back pictures from his reunions and I asked him the name of the planes they had on board ship.

I looked very carefully at the photos and noticed an OS2U Vought Kingfisher.

He was on board ship on number one gun at the bow of this ship December 7,1941. I wanted to paint one of those planes for my dad and to keep his memory alive.

There are pictures of his ship at Pearl Harbor with the wreckage of an OS2U on the fantail.
