Here is the Mauve 1/48 scale Kittyhawk III
- the RAF and Commonwealth equivalent of the P-40M.
My model is marked to represent an
aircraft of 112 Squadron RAF, Gazala, North Africa in November 1942.
Flown by Canadian Sgt. Artie Shaw. Shaw was credited with two German
aircraft kills in this Kittyhawk; one of which was an early version of
the Me 210.
I used the excellent Cutting Edge cockpit
and Ultracast seat as well as some scratchbuilt items in the cockpit. I
rebuilt the wheel wells, detailed the landing gear and reworked the cowl
flaps to show them in the open position. I also fitted the nice
Ultracast exhausts.
Hypodermic tubing was used to represent
the gun barrels and other areas were refined as well.
All of the markings are painted on with
the exception of the serial number which are dry transfers.
