There's
no doubt about it. Teenagers these days have a lot of choice about what to
do with their leisure time.
Fortunately for our hobby,
some teenagers have managed to wrench themselves away from the large
selection of electronic entertainment to build scale models.
Zachary Falzone is one of
these modellers.
At the age of 14, Zachary
has entered the teenage category at the 2004 IPMS USA Nationals, and won
first place with his 1/48 scale Tamiya P-47 Thunderbolt Razorback.
The model is well built and
sports a paint finish that many modellers with years of experience would
envy. His 1/48 scale P-51D Mustang placed in the competition too.
Zachary started modelling
with his Dad, who is also a recent recruit to the hobby.
He already admires the work
of artist, author and modeller Jerry Crandall, and was delighted to meet
him in Phoenix. In fact, Zachary specifically requested the photo below
with Jerry to appear on this Gallery page.
I am pretty sure that this
will not be the last of Zachary's models that we will see in HyperScale's
Gallery and beyond. Let's hope we see some models built by his friends
too!
