This model is the latest
boxing of the Tamiya P-47 family. Any of you that follow my model
building habits know that I don't build WWII ! However, I actually won
this kit in a raffle and having heard so many good things about the
quality etc decided to do a quick build.
Three weeks later, here is
the result.
This kit certainly is the jewel in Tamiya's 1/48 aircraft range to-date.
The decals are from Aeromaster 48-783. Upper surface paints are Tamiya
Acrylic whilst the lower surfaces natural metal is Alclad II Stainless
Steel.
As this was always going to be a quick build (by my standards anyway), I
did very little extra work (also because the kit really does not need
it).
-
Separated and
dropped the elevators.
-
Re-positioned the
tail wheel.
-
Added brake lines
to main struts.
This build has inspired me
to seek out other WWII favorites (currently a Tamiya F4U-1D).
