Tamiya's Sd.Kfz.222 Armoured Car is available online from

Description

Steve Palffy was inspired to start Tamiya's 1/35 scale Sd.Kfz.222 armoured car after reading a new book from Poland, German Armoured Cars 1905-1945.

Tamiya's venerable 222 armoured car is more than 30 years old, but its most recent incantation includes some new parts to help bring it into the 21st century.

These new parts include a beautiful turned metal 20mm gun barrel, a photo-etched mesh cover for the turret and newly tooled stowage and details.

The model was finished in Tamiya acrylics with weathering via careful airbrushing.

In addition to the vehicle, Steve has started work on a display base. This will represent a large cemetery monument in North Africa, with buried fuel drums.

Steve scratch built the monument from architectural foamboard, then cast the part in plaster before adding more detail. The ground work was also cast in plaster. The path has also been started. The flat round rocks are actually lentils! These will be covered with a layer of "sand".

More details on this project will be posted in a Feature in the coming months.
