Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Spitfire IX is available online from
Squadron.com
Here is Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc finished in
the markings of Wing Commander James Edgar (Johnnie) Johnson; CO of the
RAF's Canadian 144 Wing. The aircraft is depicted sometime just after
D-Day, 6 June 1944.
Mick built the model with only a few improvements and modifications.
The spinner and propellers are from Ultracast (appropriately from
Canada). The shape and detail of these parts are noticeably better than
the kit equivalents. The resin seat, with its cast-on harness, is also
from Ultracast. Other than these changes, the kit was built straight
from the box.
Aeromaster decals were used for the markings.
The title image is a composite of a photo of the model, masked and
cur from its background, merged with a photo of airfield buildings taken
at the Imperial War Museum Duxford in late 2003. All photography and
composite images are by Brett Green.
