Here is one of my latest creations. It is DML's,
1/35th, German Railway Gun K5, Leopold.
It's a huge model that requires a lot of space for assembly, painting
and display and I LOVE it!
It
was painted using Testor's Model Master paint.
The wheel treads were first painted using Alclad II
shiny aluminum, then masked off. The entire model was painted Panzer
Grey because the original K5 was painted grey. Then the model was
painted with Afrika Yellow but only the sides, ends and top. Leaving the
bottom and inside grey. Then the brown was added in the same manner as
the yellow, but not on the top.
There are several different camo schemes to paint
the gun. The instruction call for you to paint the top in camo, other
sources say no so I chose the one that I liked. Same thing with the
"Leopold" logo on the side. I have not seen any photos with this logo
except for the display at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. So I left it off.
The track is hand laid, using "O" scale rail and spiked down. Ties are
1/4" square bass wood glued down than Model Railroad ballast was added.
Everything was weathered then the rail tops were whipped clean for the
shinny look.
