Here is the cockpit from Tamiya's 1/48 scale P-47D Thunderbolt
Razorback kit.
It was improved by adding Eduard´s photo etch set (ref.49 226) and
some items from scratch like the gunsight, the throttle, electrical
wires and some minors devices.
Painting
To achieve the Dull Dark Green colour used on the most cockpit
surface, I mixed blue, green, a touch of yellow and white all from
Tamiya's range.
Afterwards a soft wash with burnt umber was mixed with black oils and
allowed to dry for a whole night.
The next step was painting details with Vallejo´s acrylics - the
soulders straps off white, and the lap belts yellow ochre with a tiny
amount of burnt umber and lightened with flesh. The head rest is in
leather colours, made up of a mix of black, brigh orange and lightened
with flesh.
The stencils are hand painted with a 000 brush as well as the buckles
and chip paints.
The dust was dropped randomly but taking care not to accumulate it on
most used zones and was made using pastel chalks.
The gunsight was painted in aluminium, dirt yellow the lens with a
drop of Future and the head protection in leather.
