P-47D Thunderbolt

Tamiya's 1/48 scale P-47D Thunderbolt is available online from Squadron.com

Here are a couple of pictures of my 1/48 scale Tamiya P-47 Thunderbolt.

This kit was a delight to build and I found no problems with the fit of parts. I like the 'sit' of the Tamiya Thunderbolt. I think it captures the aircraft much better than earlier offerings from other companies.

I had built a P-47 ages ago with the 'Little Chief' nose art so turned to AeroMaster for another 'Hightop' in Olive Drab.

'The Bug' came from their 'Thunderbolts Over Europe' The 405th FG in Colour, Part 1 (SP48-11) sheet. These are nice decals that conform well to the surface and adhere superbly (with a little help from Microsoft Set and Sol!).

A picture showing a full side view of this aircraft appears on page 18 of 'P-47 Thunderbolt - Warpaint Special No1' by Hall Park Publications and the nose art is included in the Booklet accompanying the decals, the latter being a very helpful and interesting read.
