P47D-20-RE "Vonsie"

Hasegawa's 1/48 scale P-47D Thunderbolt is available online from Squadron.com

Vonsie was built using the Hasegawa 1/48 scale P-47D Razorback kit.

The kit goes together okay, but some reinforcement and filler was required at the rear wing to fuselage join.

The seat, wheels, and main undercarriage bay were the only items that were not used.

The seat and wheels were replaced with Ultracast items, while the undercarriage bay was replaced with the Aires resin set.

The kit was painted with Xtra Color paints and matted back after decals and weathering was applied.

The decals were from Eagle Strike Productions and depict the aircraft 42-76556 a P47D-20RE from the 509FS, 405 Fighter Group.
