P-51B Mustang

Tamiya's 1/48 scale P-51B Mustang is available online from Squadron

Description

Here are two of my 1/48 scale P-51B Mustangs - one from Tamiya and one from ICM.

The Tamiya kit (OLE II) was done straight from the box using the kit decals; another little Tamiya gem!

The ICM Mustang was finished using the AeroMaster sheet 48-417 "Debden Ponies", and contains a Verlinden cockpit set.

I hope the viewer can see the varying shades of Olive Drab used in painting.

The ICM kit appears to be an almost direct knockoff of the Tamya moulds. The plastic isn't of the same quality, ditto for the clear parts (used Tamiya closed canopy on ICM). However, when built up there just is not a lot of difference! Of course, the ICM is only half the cost.

Which one is Tamiya and which one is poor-man's Tamiya? I will let you work it out!
