Mach 2's 1/72 scale Mariner is available online from Squadron

Description

After I reviewed Mach 2's 1/72 scale Mariner in July 2001, I took the unassembled kit along to my local club. One of my fellow members, Alan Withers, expressed an interest in the model and, as I was reasonably sure that I would not get a chance to build it in my lifetime, I gladly handed the big box over.

Over the ensuing period, Alan has occasionally brought the kit to meetings. We have seen this challenging (to say the least) model transformed and converted to the stage where it now wears paint. Alan has polished and repaired clear parts; sanded, filled and scribed all panel lines and made the necessary changes to depict a PBM-3R Mariner as operated by 40 Squadron, RAAF from Townsville in 1943.

I was pleased an surprised to see both Alan and the Mariner at the 2003 NSW Scale Model Expo on 3 May. The kit is now virtually complete. It will receive a little weathering at some stage in the future.

I am looking forward to seeing this model completed sometime soon. You can be sure it will appear on HyperScale!
