Description

This 'what-if' came about because I wanted to do something different from the dull French markings that this plane carries. I thought a Swiss aircraft would be plausible, since they already use the Mirage. And even though it's a naval aircraft, I figured that since the Swiss use some of their roads as airstrips, a plane that slams down on a carrier deck would be well suited to using a highway as a landing field. Besides, it was the only Rafale kit I had!

I used the Revell 1/48 scale Rafale M. The only 'modification' was to leave off the catapult attachment bar from the nose gear strut.

The camouflage scheme was lifted from the SAAB Viggen, but using different colors. The colors I used were all from Model Master: Flanker Blue Gray, Fulcrum Medium Blue, Fulcrum Gray Green, and Dark Sea Grey on the uppers, with Fulcrum Gray on the undersides.

The stencil decals are from the kit, with the others from the spare decal 'stash'.
