Tamiya's 1/48 scale Spitfire Vb is available online from Squadron.com
Here is Tamiya’s 1/48
scale Spitfire Vb. It is a very nice kit straight from the box.
The cockpit is
beautiful, so I only added seat belts. Fit was excellent overall. A
little putty was needed after the wing tips were glued. Gun barrels were
made from surgical needles. I scratchbuilt the starter socket and
appropriate items from Revell’s ground equipment were connected.

Painting was done with
Xtra color paints.
I chose camouflage and
markings of an airplane from 303 Polish Squadron RAF, flown by one of
the best Polish fighters Jan Zumbach. His score was 12 1/3 enemy
aircraft destroyed, 5 probably and 1 damaged. As the pilot was not very
tall, the rear view mirror on his aircraft was positioned higher than
usual, and this feature is represented in my kit.
This is a great kit and
I still hope that Tamiya will release a Mk. IX version because, in my
opinion, the Hasegawa kit is not very accurate and the ICM offering is
hard to build.
