AD-4W Skyraider

Tamiya's 1/48 scale A1-H Skyraider  is available online from Squadron

Her is one of my favourite types: the Skyraider.

I started the conversion around 4 years ago as a conversion of the superb 1/48 scale Tamiya kit. I think in the case of this model the pictures will tell the story better than many words.

I detailed the radar-operator's area from scratch adding P-80 seats from True Details and used the typical AD-4W parts as radome, canopy, fins, fixed slats from Esci.

More modification was needed in the wheel bays area and for the landing gear. The bridle catapult hook is mounted on the main landing legs, and the covers are slightly different from a AD-4.

The model represented a plane from VC-12 in 1951.
